Local artist Pashan Bassett was born in Trinidad, West Indies and has spent most of her life between Paris, France and northern British Columbia.
Her work mirrors both the French Impressionist influence and the Group of Seven’s mastery of northern light and the Canadian wilderness.

Artist’s Statement
I paint because the journey of a canvas suits every aspect of my being. I love light. The challenge of trying to translate the ephemeral moment is both inviting and daunting at the same time. I find the essence and transcendence in the light. This is what I try to capture in my paintings. And this brings me great joy.
