"Craft as Art"
May 29 – June 30, 2012
The Smithers Art Gallery is excited to showcase the talents of its members. We are inviting artists to participate in a members' group show that will be exhibited from May 29 to June 30, 2012.
The theme of the show will be “Craft as Art”. We are primarily, but not exclusively, looking for items that are hand-crafted and for everyday use, or items that are created from everyday items. Functional creations which also convey artistic expression could include musical instruments, furniture, pottery, textiles, etc.
We will accept 3 pieces from each artist, but reserve the right to display fewer pieces if we are constrained by space limitations in the gallery. Conversely, if we receive too few entries we may invite artists to exhibit more than 3 pieces.
Exhibitors must be paid-up members of the Smithers Art Gallery by the start date of the exhibition. Memberships are still just $25 annually, and our membership year runs from May 1—April 30.
The Gallery's commission rate on art sales is 25% for members. Exhibited works do not have to be for sale.
Submissions will be accepted until Tuesday, May 15th
Submission forms are available from the Gallery or for download below
