Local artist Jill Dunbar leads participants the basics of how to paint with watercolors, then she will lead you through painting landscapes and still lifes. This is a 4 week series of Wednesday night classes. This class is for adults, 16 and up.

Jess Olsen grew up in the Bulkley Valley and returns occasionally for family visits and inspiration for her artwork. Join her for a watercolour course about limited pallets/creating a pallet, integrating techniques from different mediums, and when to break the rules entirely. Some watercolour experience would be helpful to gain the most from this class.

Jigsaw linocut printmaking.jpg

Emily Klaassen teaches how to create a Jigsaw linocut. This is where you cut pieces of your linocut out, ink them individually and then piece them back together before pressing them to create a multicoloured print all with one trip through the press

Guided by internationally acclaimed artist Mark Thibeault, participants will discover how to convey mood, atmosphere and movement through abstract landscapes. Starting with an abstract painting we will coax a landscape out of it. Let your imagination soar as we paint the beauty of nature in unexpected and captivating ways. 1/2 hr. lunch break.

Art as Self-Care workshop with Professional Art Therapist Julie Chaplin is designed to explore a variety of art materials and simple directives as a form of self-regulation and self-care. Art-making can facilitate moments of joy, calm and balance during our busy life to improve health and wellbeing. No art experience is required to reap the benefits of therapeutic art.

An introduction to Portraits in Oil with instructor/artist Tahirih Goffic. A beginner-friendly art class focusing on the fundamentals of creating portraits using oil paint. Students will learn techniques for capturing likeness, anatomy, and expression while working with this versatile medium. 1/2 hr. lunch break.

Explore the known and the unknown in abstract art in this workshop with Mo Hamilton.  We will focus on contrasts in design thinking, such as color harmony, value, texture and forms, while allowing our own unique form of intuitive expression to unfold. We will learn how to integrate form with freedom in abstract expression. 1/2 hr. lunch break.

Live Model.jpg

We will pull out the dry materials and hire a live model. Mark Thibeault will be on hand to give suggestions and coordinate the live model. Be prepared for some nude figures, class is limited to 18+. This will be a fun and uninstructed course with music and a great collaborative, creative atmosphere.

We need a minimum of 6 participants to run the course.
